Amanda resides in Vallonia, Indiana with her husband Luke and their two boys Gavin (almost 4 yrs) and William (2 yrs). She's been very blessed to have a wonderful family who loves her and supports her passion for capturing and creating beautiful portrait art. While Amanda was never surrounded by any other professional portrait photographers growing up, there were several family members who had quite an eye and are amazing hobby photographers, so it's safe to say photography came natural to Amanda. It wasn't until January 2004 that Amanda decided that photography was the career path that she was destined to follow. In August of 2005 Amanda received her A.A.S. in Visual Communications majoring in photography from Ivy Tech Community College. Amanda is an active member of the PPA (Professional Photographers of America) and has recently joined PUG (a group of professional photographers that meet monthly to discuss the latest styles, trends, goals, equipment, exchange ideas, etc.) Amanda is also actively involved in attending various training seminars to continuously be aware of what's going on in the photography industry.
Amanda's goal with each frame taken is to document each blooming mommy's immense amount of excitement and love for her unborn child, what each mother sees each time she gazes at her child & that unconditional and ever growing love between loved ones. Amanda loves to capture the little things that are overlooked such as their ten tiny fingers and ten tiny toes, cute little rolls along with their button nose. Those are the things that change so quickly and Amanda believes are priceless to parents but will soon be forgotten.
A NOTE FROM AMANDA
What do you want to remember about your child when they are grown? When the evening rituals of bath time & bedtime stories are gone and the toys you trip over in the middle of the night to go comfort and soothe are no longer there and you actually experience what true sleep is? Will it be the way your son crosses his arms and makes that certain face when he knows he's in trouble or the cute way your daughter scrunches her nose when something is really funny. There are probably a million of these tiny things that as a parent you see your child do everyday, but will soon be forgotten. That is why I will never ask them to "smile and say cheese." That is why I ask that you dress your child in simple clothing and your baby in nothing at all, because clothing only distracts from your child's beautiful face and glowing personality. When you make your list of the one million things you want to remember about your child, I'm willing to bet clothing won't even make the list. When you come for your session, it won't be a quick fifteen minute "sitting," we will take our time so that you and your child are relaxed. I will engage your child in conversation so that I can get to know their true personality, and just when they forget what we are there for, I will sneak in a photo, capturing who they truly are. This is my goal with every session. To capture not just what their face looks like, but what their soul looks like.
CLOTHING
While clothing is not the most important thing to consider, it deserves some attention. Since we like to capture the true personality of your child, we ask that you keep clothing simple. Formal clothing tends to look unnatural and children often feel out of place when "dressed up." Hats are always fun, especially for toddlers and babies, fun shoes, booties, bloomers and tutus as well. For family portraits it's best to wear something in common such as jeans and/or a certain color or two to pull everyone together, making the rest of the wardrobes slightly different, but so that they all flow together.
NEWBORNS
Newborn session are best held in the first two weeks of life, though the earlier the better. The younger your baby is, the easier it is for them to sleep through us moving and repositioning them. They are also much more flexible and easier to "bend" into positions that are complimentary to newborns the newer they are. It is a good idea to preschedule your newborn session and confirm within a few days of birth. It is very normal for these sessions to last sometimes 3-4 hours. This is so that we can allow plenty of time for feedings, diaper changes, breaks for mom & for baby, as well as rocking baby to sleep. As a mother of two, I understand and am a firm believer in "Patience is a virtue."
MATERNITY
It is best to have a variety of clothing selections that best show off your growing belly. Some great choices are: form fitting camis with yoga pants, button down shirt with jeans, matching bra and panties, nude with your hands strategically placed, don't forget cute shoes and well groomed hands and feet.
